Attractions and Places
to Visit The Capital, St. George's, is the quaintest, most picturesque and unspoilt in the whole of the West Indies, yet despite these qualities the hotels and other holiday accommodation are second to none. There are rum factories, sugar mills, cocoa and spice plantations together with waterfalls and scenic National Parks to visit in the daytime. Night life is catered for by several discos and the Hotels have evening entertainments in the form of steel bands and barbecues. Between the Islands of Grenada and St.Vincent, 68 miles away to the north, lie the fabled Grenadines (of Beque and Princess Margaret fame) - about 50 superb Islands giving some of the best sailing and cruising anywhere in the world. Grenada is the center for sailing throughout the Windward Islands and has three thriving Marinas where many visiting yachts can be seen; many having sailed over from Europe, down from the States or up from South Africa. Sport Maps,
Weather Due to the NE trade winds the air temperature usually remains between 70 F and 90 F all the year round. Air conditioning or blankets are not required - truly a marvelous climate. The air temperature rarely drops below 70F or goes above 90F. The Winter Season is from mid-December to mid-April. Rates for hotels, villas, apartments and car hire are naturally higher during this period but by visiting Grenada outside of these months it is possible to take advantage of lower rates. |
